I got some fun video clips from Bikini Beach Bar this weekend. I was there Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Saturday was CRAZY! It started off slow, but by 3pm it was packed and the crowd was dancing, drinking, and partyting all afternoon with me! I shot this video clip from Saturday afternoon ... and I REALLY need to get something better than my cell phone to shoot these little clips. lol. The sound quality on my Palm phone SUCKS when I record video
Saturday night I was at Fireside. I love that place. Always a cool crowd there, and the staff is just awesome. :-)
Sunday afternoon I was at Bikini Beach Bar. It was soooo hot and humid on Sunday. Not a whole lot of dancing, but everyone had a good time. And yes, as usual I made sure that I got a clip of some cuties dancing (it was early in the day)
My schedule for the coming weekend is:
Friday night, 7/31: Bikini Beach Bar Saturday PM, 8/1: Blue Martini Saturday night, 8/1: Shampoo (Philly) Sunday PM: Bikini Beach Bar
Friday night I was at Bikini Beach. I gotta tell ya, I thought it was going to be a rain-out. While I was driving down there, the rain followed me all the way to Farley Plaza ... and then it cleared up. When I was waiting to go onstage, I took a picture of how foggy it was (you could barely see the BALLYS sign at the top of the casino)
But, it cleared up. It never rained, and it actually turned out to be one of the best nights that I ever DJed down there!
Saturday, I was actually OFF! Well, I didn't DJ. Wouldn't say I was "off" 100%. I spent the day with Jonelle (the artist that I manage) on a photo shoot. The pics came out hot (she was all "bombshelled" out) and I will be posting them here soon enough. Saturday night, I went to Sea Isle to hang out for a little bit.
Sunday at Bikini Beach Bar was good. A little weird since people were making requests, and were dancing at the bar/tables ... but not really on the dancefloor. It's always tough getting a solid dancefloor in hot, sunny weather but this week, people REALLY wanted to drink and not hit the dancefloor. They were jammin and singing though, which is all that counts really. As long as they are having a good time and drinking, I am all for it. :-) Kannon from Wired 96.5 was on the mic hosting ... and introduced me to a new drink that I have to say was pretty damn good (Jeremiah Weed flavored vodka mixed with I don't know what, but it tasted like iced tea). Yeah man!
Talked to alot of people, and there was a little party onstage for a while, lol. I have some video ... mostly of the stuff that was like "wtf". lol.
Like as soon as I started playing, there was some older drunk dude dancing to every song. I even tried playing stuff that wasn't really danceable to get him to leave, but no. He wouldn't go away. He was like an STD on the dancefloor, and every so often he would taunt the crowd, or harass the people that were drinking/eating at the tables close to the dancefloor. No good. He was eventually tossed out, but it wasn't a great way to start the shift. I mean, come on. It's 12 noon on a Sunday, wayyyy to early to be drunk/cracked out or whatever he was.
Toward the end of my shift, a younger chick was booty dancing (I guess we'll call it that) and then some older dude in sweatpants came up and was all on her. First of all ... who the hell wears gray sweatpants to a beach bar??? He sucked, the whole situtation sucked, and yes I had to get some video of it to share. :-P
I will be posting the videos tonight. Also got another Cupid Shuffle one, just for variety. lol.
My schedule for the coming week ...
FRIDAY NIGHT: Blue Martini, inside Bally's (9p-2a) SATURDAY AFTERNOON: Bikini Beach Bar (2pm-6pm) SATURDAY NIGHT: Fireside (Ambler, PA) 10p-2a SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Bikini Beach Bar, 12 noon - 6pm
Man, Sunday afternoon at Bikini Beach was HOT! Yes, the crowd and the entertainment were great (of course, lol)... But more than that, it was like 90 degrees, humid, and there was no breeze whatsoever ... I was sweating buckets, and I am in the shade there! lol Still had a fun time (as always).
The Cupid Shuffle Guy came through (hilarious!), and there was alot of girls dancing on girls action this week (which is always welcomed) ... here some video:
Saturday night at The Freight House was cool. It was my first time DJing there, and I have to say that it was a very fun and very good looking crowd! I was just doing a guest DJing spot (filling in), but I can't wait until the next time that I get a chance to DJ there. If you are in the Doylestown, PA area you should check them out. I am told that the food is great there, and I can tell you that the place is gorgeous. Great place for dinner, drinks, and dancing. They really did it right.
This week I will be DJing at:
FRIDAY NIGHT - Bikini Beach Bar (10pm - 2am) SATURDAY NIGHT - Off (whaaat???) It's true. Night off. Much needed. SUNDAY AFTEROON - Bikini Beach Bar (12 noon - 6pm)
I've been spending the last few days working on new mixes/remixes/edits for the next mix CD (Club Mix 9). Will be testing some of the new stuff this weekend and see how the response is on the dancefloor.
Hoping to have the mix done in a week or so and will be giving away copies in 2 or 3 weeks (hopefully) ... Also have a bunch of copies of Club Mix 8 coming to give away next week.
I also have started toying with some rock stuff for a new Rockin' It mix (Rockin' It 3). Too soon to say when I will be finished, but it's coming. lol.
ANNNNND ... I have been doing pre-production for songs for 3 artists. One is Canadian/Italian dance artist ZOE. I am excited about working with her, as I have always liked her vocals/voice. As soon as her CD is available, I will post links/cover art/etc here. :-)
The weather was beautiful all weekend, and it was a GREAT weekend to be DJing at a beach bar!
Friday night at Bikini Beach Bar was packed, and the crowd was having a great time. The picture above is from Friday night. I took it with my cell phone from the booth, so it's dark but you can still see how crowded the place was. Good Stuff. At the end of the night, I had someone from England tell me that I was "legendary" as a DJ. Nice!
Saturday afternoon @ Bikini Beach Bar was crazy! People came out EARLY and were partying all afternoon. By the time I was ready to leave at 5pm, they were rockin' and I actually had to step it down a notch because people were getting TOO hyped up. Here's a video from early on Saturday afternoon. Fun crowd.
Saturday night @ Shampoo was dead ... I had never worked at a nightclub promotion on the 4th of July before (especially downtown). The club actually shut the room I was DJing in down at midnight. Kinda sucked, but I looked at it as a few extra hours of sleep. lol.
Sunday afternoon @ Bikini Beach ... the weather was good, perfect drinking weather. But the crowd was ... odd. You would think that people would be partying and drinking their faces off. But, it was a slow start and everyone seemed that they just wanted to eat, drink, and sing/dance at their tables or at the bar. Jackie Blaze, Kannon with a K, the Wired 96.5 crew and I still had a good time interacting with the crowd and keeping things fun ... It was a good time, and Kannon and I traded places a few times (he got behind the turntables and I took the mic). Kannon can mix! Was cool to see/hear it.
I have some video of one of our favorite regulars at Bikini Beach Bar. TOM aka The Cupid Shuffle Guy (the big guy in the blue shorts) came through, and even though the crowd didn't get involved, Tom and Jackie still did their thing for everyone to enjoy. Check these out ... lol
I also have more pictures posted on my myspace page and my facebook page (www.myspace.com/djdanski or www.facebook.com/djdanski)
This coming weekend, I will be playing at:
FRIDAY NIGHT: Blue Martini, 9pm-2am (inside Bally's, Atlantic City) SATURDAY NIGHT: The Freight House,9pm-1am (Doylestown, PA) SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Bikini Beach Bar, 12noon - 6pm
Soooo, I got some new pictures from last weekend @ Fireside sent to me by 2 of the coolest chicks. I have added them to the slideshow over on the sidebar, and I will post the slideshow here too just because it's that kind of day.
