OK, I'm all for the winter weather. I mean, my last name IS Ski and all ... but the amount of snow we are getting this winter is out of control. My front yard is a freakin' ice block.

Anyway, so I'll be at Fireside in Ambler on 2/5, 2/12, and 2/19 ... Still haven't done that mix I keep talking about. Gotta get on that.

It's been a while since I updated my page. Hate when that happens ... But I wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday season. I have LOTS on my Christmas list, and I've been good this year so Santa better come through for me. :-)

There's a new mix still in the works (along the lines of the CLUB MIX series). Just need to find the time to set up the gear at home and record it. It would be so much easier if I could just record my sets when I play live ... guess I should add a portable digital recorder to my Christmas list.

Once the mix is finished, I will be posting it to my page on Freakonomix.com ... and then I will link to that from my Facebook page. So, the best way to stay updated is to friend/like me on Facebook and keep an eye out for it.

It should be done within the next two weeks, since I have a little time off from the weekend DJing stuff. I'll be at Fireside on Jan 8th ... and maybe hitting AC again in January for a few dates.

It's a cold and rainy Monday here in Philly today ... I'm actually wearing a sweater. Hard to get motivated on days like this. Gonna need an extra shot of espresso in the coffee this morning I think. ;-)

As you can see, I finally got a new mix posted. It's very top 40/dance oriented (by request). I will be doing a series of these mixes, called BASS BEAT MIX ... these are very similar in feel to the iCandi mixes that I did last year. The difference is that the BASS BEAT MIXes will be more geared toward the dance/clubplay charts instead of the radio play charts.

For those who have been asking for mixes more like CLUB MIX 8 and CLUB MIX 9 that I did last year ... I have one coming. It will also be the start of a new series called SHUT UP & KEEP TALKING. This series will cover a wide range of genres ... still largely radio-play based, but with lots of creative bits tossed in. I should have the first one done sometime this week.

This month, my club dates are posted on my club calendar (above). I'm also busy in the studio behind the scenes, getting alot of mixshow production stuff done, doing some remixes for the club/shows ... all of that fun stuff. I'm also doing a few benefits this month too ... one to help raise money for breast cancer research (gotta save the ta-tas!), and another to help raise money for medical bills for a friend.

OK, so summer is just about over. Sad to say that I didn't get to the beach as much as I wanted to ... but I did play in some pretty cool spots this summer. All in all, it was a good season.

Last week was my last Saturday night at The Brick House. Would like to say thanks to Dave and his amazing staff there for treating me so well while I was there. If anyone in the Pottstown area hasn't stopped in there yet, do yourself a favor and go.

So, where will I be now? I am taking some time off to work on some new techniques and technology to enhance my skills/show. I'll still be popping up in my usual places from time to time (Fireside, Rollplay, etc) ... also have gotten word of a few new venues that may be opening soon. Hopefully they pan out, as the concepts are pretty cool.

New mixes? Yeah, I have been slacking on those. The plan is to work on an 80's mix (by request), as well as a current mix -- you know, the one that I talked about on my last post, but never actually got around to doing yet ... :-(

I will be doing a new mix this week (FINALLY!), and will have CD copies to give away at the clubs within the next 2 weeks. So come out to see me and get yours ...

Also will be posting it on a new mix hosting service called FREAKONOMIX.COM ... the site looks hot, and I will keep you all posted when the mix is ready to be downloaded (free, of course).

Other than that, I have a busy month ahead. Will be in a bunch of cool spots. Hope to see some of you out there ... stop up at the booth and say hi. Always fun to meet the people that are into what I am doing ... or at least to meet new drinking buddies. :-D

Summer, summer, summertime!

Whooo-wee! It's been hot in Philly for the last week or so ... summer's officially here it seems.

I'll be in a few new places this summer ... FINALLY getting to play in Sea Isle City @ The Springfield Inn on Sunday July 18th (3pm-9pm) with the JULIANO BROTHERS. I'll also be there on Friday August 13th (9pm-2am) with BARE KNUCKLE BOXERS. Looking forward to it.

The big Pool Party is coming up on July 17th. Can't wait! I have a special set that I will be playing there. I am hoping to be able to stream it live via my iPhone to ustream.tv (click here to check out my ustream channel) ... I'll be streaming live once or twice a month, if everything goes as planned.

So, I'll be taking a little downtime this month ... DJing on Saturday May 8 @ The Brick House in Pottstown, PA ... then Saturday May 15 @ Fireside in Ambler, PA ... May 26th I'll be in San Juan, PR ... May 27th St Thomas ... May 28th Grand Turk. I'll be sure to get plenty of pictures.

I've lined up a few things for summer, and I plan to finally get the iCandi project up and running. Just kinda enjoying the downtime from being out in the clubs right now, but there's plenty going on behind the scenes.

Will also be getting a new freestyle mix series out this summer (been dragging my feet on it). Going back to basics on it ... just hot songs, mixed properly (right Nikki?) ... No crazy remixes, no DJ tricks and fireworks ... just making it about the music, the way it used to be before all of the technology got involved.

Loving the weather in Philly right now! Feels like summer is already here ... It's supposed to drop down to the 60's by the weekend, but I have to say that it's nice being able to drive around with the windows down and the music up!

My schedule for April has me in a few places ... FIRESIDE (Ambler, PA) on Sat 4/3 & Fri 4/23 ... THE BRICK HOUSE (Pottstown, PA) on Sat 4/10 and Sat 4/17 ... ROLLPLAY (Atlantic City, NJ) on Sat 4/24 for a "Time Machine 80's Dance Party". Love those! I found out that I will be in Sea Isle City, NJ this summer for a few dates too. As soon as I know the exact dates I will post them here (of course).

So, Fridays at Blue Martini got extended thru March. You can catch me there on 3/12, 3/19, and 3/26. After that they are supposed to renovate the place, so not sure what's going to happen beyond March. Got my eye on a few places in Philly that are about to open up ... My Saturdays in March will be at The Brick House in Pottstown, PA. It's a long drive, but I like the place alot.

I looked at the calendar today and realized that I haven't had a day off in over a month! So, now that Sundays at theRidge are over ... and Fridays at Blue Martini are coming to an end, I am going to back it down for a few weeks and just DJ on Saturday nights.

Yes, finally! A new mix for the ROCKIN IT series. I will be doing the mix on Friday 1/29/10 and then will be sending it out to get tracked out/pressed/copied onto CDs so that I can give them away at my club events.

Hey! Wow, New Year's Eve @ Fireside in Ambler, PA was great! They really know how to throw a party there ... Big thanks going out to Vince, Pete Sr and Pete Jr for their generosity. The food, the drinks ... everything was top notch. Really really great party. :-)

It's been awhile ...

I've been busy! Sorry about not updating the blog. Been working on a new project for 2010 ... transforming my basement into a TV studio to work on some video remixing.

I'm excited about it, and I should have something to show you all around Christmas time (hopefully). Anyway, I'm pumped about it!

Also, I'll have 4 new freestyle mixes ready to go by then too. I've been neglecting my freestyle people for too long. Once they are ready, I'll post links and all of that good stuff on here.

Other than that, I've been busy DJing! The Sundays at theRidge are picking up and getting really fun. How can I complain? Working with cheerleaders, surrounded by 10 screens with football on ... and they are paying me to play music in the middle of a gambling pit. woo hoo!

Great weekend at RollPlay and Adelphia ...

It's Tuesday and I am still feeling beat up from the weekend.

Friday night I was at Blue Martini in Atlantic City ... The weather was really crappy, and the crowd was a little light because of it I think. Still had a good night. At one point 5 girls in halloween costumes ran into the club and went straight for the dancefloor. There was a kabuki girl, a horse, Uncle Sam ... and I forget the other two. It was fun to see though. lol. The crowd stayed until about 1:30 and then it started to thin out.

Saturday night was my first night at RollPlay Lounge. Very nice spot, very cool staff. I was doing their 80's party there, which was fun. Got to play some 80s classics that I don't normally get a chance to play.

I will be back there on November 14th for the Philly Friction party. Should be a good night that night. ;-0

Sunday I went to Adelphia (in my manager role for Jonelle ... I didn't DJ). It was Tazmania Records CD release party for the OVERLOADED CD. Great night, lots of people came out. JONELLE and her dancers rocked it. I will have video posted as soon as I get it back.

I wasn't scheduled to work at the show, but somehow I wound up being an MC for the night. lol. Always seems to happen to me.

This week, I took a few days off from DJing (not working Friday or Saturday nights), and starting this Sunday, I will be back at theRidge in Atlantic City from 2pm-8pm.

OK, so the party is a few weeks away and I have some more information about the place, and the night.

Alot of people that I have been talking to about it are a bit hesitant because it's a "couples lounge". Let me just tell you, I kind of thought the same thing. But, having been there ... all I can say is that it's a really nice place and it's NOT what people stereotypically think of when you say "couples club".

The main lounge area (downstairs) is like any other upscale lounge. The decor is nice, the staff is hot, and it's a party like any other club would be.

For those that want to go further and do more, well, that's what the side rooms and the VIP room are for.

At this place, YOU really set the limits on how far it goes. And if you are just looking to party and have a great night out, you will get that in the lounge area. Very rarely do "things" happen in the lounge area.

For October 17th, the promoter is extending a special to those on my list. Normally it's $100 per couple to get in to RP Lounge (single ladies are free before midnight, and $25 after). Couples on my list will get in for $50 per couple.

Also -- and this is a big one -- this place is BYOB (bring your own bottle). You bring in your bottle, and the bar staff there at RollPlay Lounge supply the glasses, mixers, etc.

It's a really nice, cool party place. I posted pictures on my facebook page.

80's party in Atlantic City, October 17th

Just got booked for this one! The picture says it all, but if you can't see what it says ... I will be playing 80's (and of course mixing/mashing up current stuff in there too) @ RollPlay Lounge in Atlantic City on October 17th.

RollPlay Lounge is an erotic couples lounge, and is a very cool/very modern club. I've never DJed in that type of club before, so it should be interesting! Always looking to play for new crowds.

I just found out that I will be doing the Broad Axe Tavern in Ambler, PA one Saturday night per month. My first night there will be October 10th.

The Podcast and other fun stuff

Hey, so I just got a notice from the podcast hosting company that you can now easily access the podcast from your mobile device/phone by going to http://m.podbean.com/ and use the keyword "ski". My podcast should be the first one listed in the search results.

I will have a few new episodes up there in the next few days (pieces of the club 9 mix).

Also, it looks like I have a few open Fridays/Saturdays in my schedule (so far) for October and November. If I don't get booked for those dates, I might set up my DJ gear in my basement ("The Boom Boom Room") and broadcast/record a few live sets.

I've been trying to do that for like a year or two now, and always just seem to be too busy to do it (I had a sponsorship through Yahoo 2 years ago to do video streaming that I never capitalized on).

The new service that I will be using records and archives the broadcast, so it's kind of cool.

I'm duh-raggging it this morning! Long weekend of DJing to close out the summer at Bikini Beach.

Friday night I was scheduled to DJ at Bikini Beach bar, and I was excited for my last Friday night there for the summer ... but the weather was bad, it rained all night and I was cancelled. So, I took the opportunity to catch up on some rest. Especially since I worked the night before at FAT PETE'S with my friend Nikki. If you go out to the bars in NorthEast Philly and have never met Nikki, she's awesome and truly is one of the best bartenders I have ever worked around.

Saturday night at Blue Martini in Atlantic City was cool. It was a long DJ shift (7pm - 3am) but it was fun. I had dancers on the stage with me from 11pm-2am, so it was cool being able to share the stage with them. I tried to take pics, but they came out dark. lol. When I am there on Friday nights, there are no dancers with me onstage-- so of course I was loving it. lol.

Sunday was the last Recovery Sunday for the summer. We had a great summer down there, and I am going to miss all of the people that I worked with -- all of the air staff from Wired (KANNON, you are the man ... thanks for everything), the crew from Wired 96.5 (STEVE and the street teamers are too cool), the sound techs (Tim, Chris, Ed) the waitresses (the nicest/hottest on the beach!), bartenders, security people (especially Sandy and Angel), and of course my co-host for the season JACKIE BLAZE (gonna miss working with you girl! All of the crazy talks, etc. Hope to work together again sometime)

There's some plans coming for the fall about taking the RECOVERY party indoors, so I will keep you posted. New venue, new co-host ... gonna be hot!

Labor Day Weekend wrap-up

I am just NOW starting to feel "normal" from the weekend ... or as close to it as I get. lol. It was a busy weekend!

Thursday I started out not actually DJing, but hanging out at FAT PETE'S (6171 Torresdale Ave, Philadelphia). Mostly to check the place out since I will be starting to DJ there 2 Thursdays per month starting this week (9/10/09). NIKKI was behind the bar, and she has a way of keeping you at the bar for longer than you anticipated. lol. She's a cool person, and a very good bartender. Oh, and did I mention that she is gorgeous? A triple threat. lol.

Thursday Nights are "Freestyle Thursdays" at Fat Pete's. So, come out and hang in a laid back place and listen to some freestyle. Of course, I will also be mixing in other old school club stuff, and some newer stuff ... you know how I do it, I keep it fun. It will be a cool night. If you like freestyle, come out and I will play what you want to hear -- the club classics, the mixtape favorites, the underground stuff ... I have it all.

Plus, Nikki will be keeping the drinks coming ... $2 Miller Lite from 9p-11p and $2 mixed drinks from 9p-11p. The music starts @ 9pm and we go til 2am. No cover.

Friday night I was at Blue Martini (inside Bally's, Atlantic City). Average night, maybe a little slower than usual ... which was odd considering that it was Labor Day Weekend.

Saturday night I was at Fireside (Ambler, PA). Crazy night there. lol. Another fun one. Love that place. I was super amped up on Red Bull and a 5 hour Energy shot. Fun stuff.

Sunday was a lonnnnng day. I started @ Bikini Beach Bar, and it was overcast. The crowd was a little smaller than usual, and they took a while to warm-up ... but after 3:30 or so, the party got started and we had a good time there. I played until about 6:30 pm and then Fuzzy Bunny Slippers started playing.

After that, I packed up my gear and headed to Luna in Wildwood, NJ. It was my first time there, and the place is really nice. I played there until 3 am. Toward the end of the night, one of the security guys came up to me and said that it was the best Sunday that they had all summer. I've been wanting to work in Wildwood for awhile now, so who knows? Maybe I will get more work down there next summer. I'm also working on lining some stuff up for Sea Isle next summer.

Needless to say, Monday was a total recovery day for me. I got home at 6am, and stayed in bed til about 3 in the afternoon! At about 8pm I started to feel OK again.

This week is another busy one. I have to finish up a project for another dance artist, work on Jonelle's show tape for the upcoming Tazmania CD release party (at Adelphia, Deptford NJ) coming in October, and then do some remixes of music to play this weekend at the spots that I am working.

It's the last week for Bikini Beach Bar's season, so I will be trying to take as many pics as I can. I hope that the weather is good. lol.
